Volunteering with VOC

Bringing Community Engagement to the Mountains

At Tonic, our mission of "Work with Impact" is threefold — through the work we do for our clients, our employee experience, and our community outreach. From providing the best collaborative solutions for our clients, to elevating our team member experience, we believe that success is defined as the positive work you can do for the world around you. The more success you have, the more opportunities you have to give back and show love for your local communities and the world at large. As a Colorado-based company, many of our team members have been called to the great outdoors, trading the commuter laptop brief for a hiking pack on the weekends. As we explored local opportunities for volunteering, we asked how our team would like to give back. There was a resounding want to show our Colorado parks some love. Tonic had the privilege of volunteering for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) alongside a fellow impact-based organization and client, Pivot Energy.

Power in People

For over 30 years, VOC has been motivating and enabling people to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources, working with conservation and land agencies and volunteers to provide opportunities to keep the outdoors an enriching and safe place for all.

Every year VOC offers thousands of people the opportunity to be a part of their volunteer workforce for recreation and habitat improvement projects, taking volunteers across the state inspiring them to not only enjoy, but do their part to care for the beloved “great outdoors.” VOC has helped mobilize an estimated $26.5 million in donated labor, connecting people to nature and putting the power and responsibility of caring for our lands back in the hands of those who love it most. Their opportunities range in physical intensity and time commitments, providing all water, safety measures, and tools needed, keeping accessibility and inclusivity as the backbone of their movement.

Getting our Hands Dirty

Tonic and Pivot’s volunteer opportunity brought us to Staunton State Park, where we not only pulled and plucked invasive plants, but were able to learn the history of the land and the life cycles of some of Mother Nature’s most feisty friends. Opportunities for local engagements have taken center stage as Tonic looks to expand its stewardship programs throughout Denver and its surrounding areas, a focus on fostering both social impact and environment opportunities for positive change.

Pivot Energy, a national leader in comprehensive commercial and community solar services, has cultivated their mission of “accelerating the equitable shift to clean energy in communities throughout the nation by developing, financing, and servicing renewable energy solutions” for over 13 years. As a Certified B Corporation and advocate for local community engagement, Tonic is not only proud to call them a client, but a local friend working to further utilize business as a force for good.
